The birth of Balkan Trafik’s Roma Touch
In the 2009 edition of Balkan Trafik, the team of BOZAR decided to pay a special tribute to the Roma culture in the form of its first ever “Roma Touch”. A first step was taken toward a better understanding of this rich, multifaceted and widely unknown culture generally known as “Gypsy”. Through this tribute, the audience discovered a world, often perceived as mysterious, and expressed great enthusiasm and a strong wish to continue the journey into this world.
In 2010, BOZAR will be happy to lead Balkan Trafik’s audience in taking a second step into the world of the Roma…
In the coming year, the festival will be launched on 8th April, which was declared to be International Roma Day exactly two decades earlier in honour of the first major international meeting of Romani representatives (1971). This will make the experience all the more special as, over three days, the audience sees, hears and feels the scope of Roma culture present in and inherent to each country of the Balkans.
